Dexa Group actively supports the enhancement of the quality and role of pharmacists in public health by participating in the 2024 Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT) of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) held in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

The event was attended by the Head of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) Mr. Taruna Ikrar, Chairman of IAI Mr. Nofrendi Roestam, Director of Pharmaceutical Production and Distribution of the Ministry of Health of Indonesia Ms. Dita Novianti Sugandi. From Dexa Group, the Head of Marketing Victory & Prosperity of PT Dexa Medica, Ms. Jenny Octavia, was also present.

With the theme “Weaving Progress: Integrating Pharmaceutical Sciences into The Global Health System,” Mr. Taruna Ikrar emphasized that pharmacologists and pharmacists are intertwined professions that cannot be separated.

“BPOM will continue to support the transformation of the national health resilience system to enhance the competitiveness of the national pharmaceutical industry. It is hoped that the synergy that has been established between BPOM and IAI can be maintained and strengthened to achieve a robust and self-sufficient Indonesian pharmaceutical sector,” said Mr. Taruna Ikrar.

During the event, Quality Assurance Manager of PT Anugrah Argon Medica, Ms. Sulviria, delivered a presentation titled “Distribution of Pharmaceutical Precursors to Hospital Service Facilities.”

In her presentation, she explained that the distribution of pharmaceutical precursors at distribution facilities is regulated by BPOM Regulation No. 24 of 2021 concerning the Supervision of the Management of Medicines, Narcotics, Psychotropics, and Pharmaceutical Precursors in Pharmaceutical Service Facilities.

“Although regulations are in place, the process of reporting and ordering precursor medicines remains complex and time-consuming. Currently, there is a platform that simplifies the ordering process for products, including precursors, at AAM. It involves just five easy steps from selecting precursor products to issuing and validating the order,” said Ms. Sulviria.

Digitalization in precursor ordering not only speeds up and simplifies the process but also allows for the archiving of Purchase Orders (POs) that can be retrieved for several years.

Meanwhile, Scientific Communication Associate Manager of PT Dexa Medica, Ms. Yosephine Dian Hendrawati, presented a topic titled “The Role of DPP4-Inhibitors (Vlidagliptin) in the Management of Diabetes Mellitus & the Importance of Collaborative Practice in Optimizing Patient Safety.”

She highlighted that the prevalence of diabetes is like an iceberg, requiring collaboration from all parties, especially pharmacists, to manage effectively.

“Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a significant challenge for us. We are facing a very large iceberg,” said Ms. Yosephine.

In response to this challenge, Dexa Medica has developed Vlidagliptin, a DPP4-inhibitor with broad clinical benefits and a strong safety profile.

“Vlidagliptin OGB Dexa is the first and only one in Indonesia with high local content (TKDN) and halal certification,” she explained.

During the event, Dexa Group also showcased a booth themed in red, representing OGB Dexa, which has proactively implemented regulations related to drug packaging, particularly the Look-Alike Sound-Alike (LASA) guidelines. In addition to OGB Dexa, Rhinos product lines and GPOS services also featured prominently at the booth.

Not only were visitors informed about OGB Dexa and Dexa Group’s products and services, but hundreds of attendees also eagerly participated in various engaging activities, such as puzzle games, interactive prescription games, and received souvenir medicine boxes.

Ms. Tresnawati, Deputy Secretary-General for Division 9 of the Central Board (PP) of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI), remarked that Dexa Group’s booth consistently stands out and is always engaging with exciting games.

“Dexa Medica’s booth is huge, and every time I pass by, I join the games, which are always fun. Thank you for creating something interesting at IAI 2024,” said Mia, a pharmacist from Jakarta.
