PT Beta Pharmacon is actively contributing to sustainability efforts through its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program, implemented across its production processes. Two major initiatives have been implemented at PT Beta Pharmacon’s site, which are the Solar Panel Program and the Conversion of Diesel Fuel to Natural Gas.

“All of Beta Pharmacon’s initiatives align with Dexa Group’s Lean Manufacturing concept, which emphasizes continuous improvement across all operational aspects,” said the Director of Manufacturing Group, Mr. Benny Sutisna Suwarno, on Tuesday (August 27, 2024).

To reduce carbon emissions and dependency on fossil fuels, Beta Pharmacon has successfully installed a 410.3 kWp solar panel system at its production facility located in Karawang, West Java. This system generates electricity equivalent to 20% of the company’s current total electricity demand. This step marks a significant milestone in Beta Pharmacon’s journey towards greater use of renewable energy.

Meanwhile, Operations Director of PT Dexa Medica, Mr. Gunawan Lukman, emphasized that Dexa Group’s initiatives in utilizing renewable energy sources in manufacturing reflect a commitment to protecting the planet.

“We are a responsible company. We mitigate risks through initiatives aimed at reducing global warming. The use of solar panels is proof of our commitment to these efforts. This initiative has already been implemented at Ferron, Beta Pharmacon, and is planned for the Palembang warehouse, demonstrating our concrete actions in taking responsibility as global citizens,” explained Mr. Gunawan Lukman.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals

Beta Pharmacon’s efforts are in line with the sustainable development goals set by the Indonesian government and the international community. By utilizing clean and efficient energy, the company contributes to reducing the impact of climate change and creating a healthier environment for future generations.

“By adopting the latest environmentally friendly technologies, the company not only contributes to environmental conservation but also enhances production efficiency,” said Dexa Group’s Corporate Supply Chain Director, Mr. Anton Harijanto.

In addition to using solar panels, Beta Pharmacon has also converted its boiler fuel from diesel to natural gas. This move has not only resulted in operational cost savings of up to 48%, but also extended equipment lifespan and reduced pollutant emissions.

“The potential reduction in greenhouse gases is estimated at 112 tons of CO2e per year from the natural gas conversion and 450 tons of CO2e per year from the solar panels,” said PT Beta Pharmacon’s Operations Director, Mr. Gatot Prayitno.

Beta Pharmacon’s success in implementing sustainable energy programs is expected to inspire other companies in Indonesia to participate in environmental preservation efforts. With more companies committed to sustainable business practices, a greener and more sustainable future is within reach.
