Dexa Medica continues its commitment to promoting early detection of chronic illnesses by organizing the free health screening initiative, Cek Segitiga, in Bogor, West Java. The program offered free screenings to 490 residents for three major silent killers: hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol.
This initiative is part of Dexa Group’s Corporate Social Initiative Dharma Dexa, a social responsibility program aimed at broadening public access to preventive and educational healthcare services.
Results from the screening revealed that approximately 80% of participants were at risk of at least one of the three chronic diseases. While this figure is concerning, it also serves as a critical reminder of the urgent need to foster a stronger culture of health awareness.
According to Dr. Patricia from RS Mulia Pajajaran, a partner for the event, public awareness regarding the importance of health checks remains low.
“Many people have high blood pressure or elevated blood sugar levels and don’t even realize it because there are no symptoms. At this event, many came just for a regular check-up but discovered that their blood pressure, sugar, or cholesterol levels were actually high,” explained Dr. Patricia.
“What’s more alarming is the growing number of individuals in their 20s showing early signs of these conditions. It may be linked to unhealthy dietary habits. That’s why it’s essential to conduct health screenings—so we can identify risks early and prevent chronic disease.”
Screening results on-site revealed:
– 59.2% had above-normal cholesterol levels (>199 mg/dL),
– 45.1% were found to have high blood pressure,
– 12.9% had random blood glucose levels above 130 mg/dL.
Additionally, 72% of participants (354 people) reported never having had a health check before, while only 136 had done so within the last six months.
Mr. Gunawan, Senior Sales Manager of OGB Dexa, highlighted the importance of routine health checks, particularly among the working-age population.
“Of the 490 people screened, 72% had never been tested for these three chronic conditions. This underscores the need for ongoing public education so preventive action can begin as early as possible,” he stated.
The initiative also received support from the Bogor City Office of Youth and Sports, which praised the program for providing affordable and educational access to healthcare.
“We hope programs like this can be held at least twice a month, to support people who aspire to live healthier lives but face financial barriers to health screening,” said Mr. Gunawan from the Youth and Sports Office.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mateus Ramidi, Manager of Dharma Dexa, reaffirmed the program’s mission to reach grassroots communities through practical, high-impact actions.
“Dharma Dexa was born out of our desire to give back to society through tangible contributions. We believe that simple steps like health screenings can have a profound impact on an individual’s quality of life—this is a true embodiment of our core value: Expertise for the Promotion of Health,” said Mateus.
Since its launch in 2024, Cek Segitiga has been conducted in seven major cities—Jakarta, Palembang, Bandung, South Tangerang, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Bogor—serving over 6,000 individuals.
Dexa Medica remains committed to expanding the reach of this initiative across Indonesia as part of its ongoing contribution to the national health agenda, particularly in tackling non-communicable diseases, one of the nation’s most pressing healthcare challenges.
